Quintela is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture at Portucalense University and a researcher at Research in Economics, Management, and Information Technologies (REMIT). She has held various operational and management positions in the hotel industry in Portugal and abroad. She holds a PhD in Tourism and a Specialization Course in Hotel Management. Her research interests focus on tourism and hospitality, service quality, health, and wellness, emphasising marketing, sustainability, happiness, and quality of life.

She is a member of the Research Unit on Economics, Management, and Information Technologies (REMIT) and the Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness, and Public Policies (GOVCOPP). Medéia has published research on sustainability, digitalisation, territorial planning and development, and communication and marketing management related to the tourism and hospitality industry.
