Dr. Luqman Jameel Rather, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the College of Sericulture, Textile, and Biomass Science, Southwest University, China, working with Prof. Qing Li. He earned his doctorate in Organic Chemistry from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India in 2017. He pursued his master's in Chemistry in 2010 from the University of Kashmir, Srinagar, India. Currently, he is an active member of many research organizations, takes part in organizing international and national level conferences, and serves as editor and reviewer of several scientific journals.
His research is focused on the functional finishing of textile material especially wool, silk, and cotton (Antimicrobial, Antifungal, UV Protective, Insect Repellent, Flame-Retardant, Antioxidant, etc) along with the thermodynamic and kinetic adsorption studies of natural colorants on wool fiber. His research extends to the field of nanoparticle-biopolymer (Ag nanoparticle-chitosan, Ag nanoparticle-cyclodextrin, Cellulose-nanoparticle-textile blend) composite finishing of the textile substrate. He has contributed to more than 70 research publications, including 3 books, and 12 book chapters).
