Robert Neil Cavally (1906-1994) was an internationally renowned flutist, author, and pedagogue of the 20th century. He studied with Ary Van Leuween, Phillipe Gaubert, and Marcel Moyse. He was a graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and the Paris Conservatory. As a Flutist he toured with sopranos from the New York Metropolitan of Music. He played piccolo with John Philip Sousa's band. He was Orchestral Flutist with the NBC Radio Network, WLW Radio Orchestra, Paris Opera, Armco Band, Dayton Philharmonic, Cincinnati Summer Opera Orchestra and the Cincinnati Symphony Symphony for over 28 years. As a teacher, he was Professor of Flute and Woodwind Ensembles at the Cincinnati Collete Conservatory of Music for 41 years retiring as Professor Emeritus. He is known for being the only Flutist with a complete catalog of flute and woodwind music by levels.


His curriculum includes Basic Studies, Method Books, Solo Books, Individual Solos and Ensembles and contains over 250 works for both flute and other woodwinds. Many solos were dedicated to him by famous conductors and his studies are currently playing with orchestras and teaching and major universities. His curriculum is considered to be the top selling flute studies around the world.
