David Overton is a professor, playwright, and founder of Long Island Classics Stage Company in Centerport, New York where he primarily works with students on performing the works of Shakespeare and developing transferable life skills. He has over 25 years' experience teaching high school and college-aged students and is currently an adjunct professor at New York City area colleges. David holds his MFA in Acting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Ph.D. in Theatre from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Entrepreneurial efforts include "Bard Cards: The Authentic Shakespearean Quote Game" and the Apple/Android App, "Bard Cards : Shakespeare Says" both endeavors sparked by his work with Rebecca Kupka and their summer theatre program "Classic Kids." Originally from North Carolina, David has had the privilege of working with and learning from some of the most talented people in theatre. It all began when his favorite Aunty Shrew took him to audition for "Peter Pan" at Raleigh's Theatre in the Park where he landed the title role - and then was promptly flown into a window ledge on opening night.

Other favorite roles include the Emcee in "Cabaret," Alan Strang in "Equus," and Tom in "Big River." Other plays by David include "Shakespeare's Dead Dames," "Shakespeare's Dead Dudes," "Thrice Upon a Midnight Clear," and "Mary and Joseph¿and Company" which can be found at Theatrical Rights Worldwide.
