Kristin Neff is an Associate Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin and a pioneer in the field of self-compassion research. She conducted the first empirical studies on self-compassion nearly two decades ago and has authored numerous academic articles and book chapters on the topic. Dr. Neff is the author of Self-Compassion: The Proven Power of Being Kind to Yourself and Fierce Self-Compassion: How Women Can Harness Kindness to Speak Up, Claim Their Power, and Thrive, which explores how to balance self-acceptance with the courage to make needed change. In collaboration with Dr. Christopher Germer, she developed the empirically supported Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) training program, which is taught by thousands of teachers worldwide. Together, they co-authored The Mindful Self-Compassion Workbook and Teaching the Mindful Self-Compassion Program: A Guide for Professionals.
