While Spanish in the U.S. is ideologically associated with Latinx identities, it is widely used by people from varied backgrounds. Though Latinx individuals notably cross racial and linguistic boundaries, these realities have never impeded the imposition of monolithic raciolinguistic ideologies on Spanish speakers.
