Farid Bazger, originally from Afghanistan and now based in Toronto, has written and translated hundreds of books, primarily for children and the health sector. His first children's translation, The Adventures of Sinbad, was published in 1992, followed by his original Pashto story Asak in the Grip of Calamityin 1996. He has served as a Cultural Advisor for HOOPOE Books for over 15 years, translating and editing dozens of children's books. A Little Halwa and a Big Family is his first Canadian publication. Sahar Abdallahis an Egyptian-Canadian children's book illustrator and printmaker based in Trois-Rivières, Quebec. She studied art education and painting in Cairo. Since her graduation, she authored and illustrated several books; her latest, Maimun, was published in German by Baobab Books in 2024. The tradition of Egyptian art and culture is an important source of inspiration for her artwork.
She has received numerous awards, such as the Etisalat Award,UAE and the state incentive award, Egypt.
