Ali Asghar Seidabadi is one of the most influential figures in children's and adolescent literature in Iran. His work encompasses both literary creation (poetry, fiction, picture books, and rewritings of traditional fairy tales and myths) and criticism, research, and the promotion of reading. Through his ongoing commitment to cultural journalism and education, he has contributed significantly to the professional development of this field. His publishing career includes picture books, novels, and nonfiction.His books have been translated and published in several languages, including English, Arabic, Turkish, German, French, and Chinese, reaching an international audience. For his works, he has received some of Iran's most prestigious literary awards, bestowed by the Children's Book Council, the Center for the Intellectual Development of Children and Adolescents (Kanoon), and the Center for Studies on Children's Literature at Shiraz University, among others. He has also been nominated severaltimes by the Children's Book Council and the Association of Children's and Adolescent Writers of Iran for the international Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award and iRead prizes, in recognition of his leading role in promoting reading. Her writings on contemporary Iranian politics and Persian (Farsi) translations have been published in several publications, including Ms. Magazine, Defunct Magazine, True, Los Angeles Review, Hayden's Ferry Review, Faultline, Asymptote, and Two Lines . She has also translated two books, Empty and Me (Lee & Low, 2023) by Azam Mahdavi and Women, Life, Freedom: Our Fight for Human Rights and Equality in Iran (Cornell University Press, 2023) by Nasrin Sotoudeh, and two documentaries, Nasrin (2020) and Sansur (2023), on women's rights in Iran.
