A historically significant subject: Germaine Arnattaujuq is an Inuit artist and illustrator, best known for her prints and etchings depicting Inuit myths and traditional ways of life. In 1999, she designed the special edition two-dollar coin commemorating the founding of the territory of Nunavut. She is the co-author of My Name Is Arnaktauyok: The Life and Art of Germaine Arnaktauyok. In 2021, she won a Governor General's Award in visual and media arts. She's originally from Iglulik and now lives in Yellowknife. In-depth content: Through each of its chapters, this book takes readers through Germaine's childhood, including her time at residential school, to her first steps into the art world at the University of Manitoba, all the way to her current life as a renowned artist. The last few chapters focus more specifically on Germaine's artistic style, techniques, and mediums.
