Widely regarded as one of Ukraine's most prominent Russian-language poet, Boris Khersonsky was born in 1950 in Chernivtsi and spent most of his life in Odesa, where he practiced medicine at a psychiatric hospital and taught psychology at Odesa National University. In Soviet times, Khersonsky was part of the Samizdat movement. After the fall of USSR, he had published many books of poetry which had been translated all over the world. He was profiled in The New York Times, and his poems appeared in The Atlantic Monthly and Modern Poetry in Translation. Born in Tiraspol, Moldova in 1964, Lyudmyla Khersonsky is an award winning poet and author of three collections of poetry. Her work has been honored with the Voloshin Prize and translated into several languages, including German and Lithuanian. A professional translator from English, she has translated into Russian the poetry of many authors, including the Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney. In the United States, her poems have appeared in zand other journals.


She lives in Odesa, Ukraine.
