Brenner Gaetz lost a leg in the Great War, and is now left to survive the gauntlet of the Weimar Republic. As economic strife and political corruption erode the fabric of 1920's Germany, Brenner's wife, Nanette, becomes enamored by an exciting new rabble-rouser named Adolf Hitler. Conspir-acies are brought to light when Brenner is put in charge of the publication house for the DNVP out of Munich - one of Germany's countless political parties. As hostilities take hold and political violence escalates throughout the nation, Brenner finds the war has reached his very doorstep. With his wife now radicalized by the Nazi propaganda, the two become locked in a fight for the soul of their only child, Hugo.
