In Mother Was Not A Person , the writings of a diversity of Montréal women are used to outline the dimensions of political, cultural, educational and social life as experienced by Québécoises. Published in 1972, it is considered the first feminist anthology compiled in Canada, and to this day remains a powerful text in Canadian women's history.
