Fifteen-year-old Tom is meant to be on an ordinary family holiday at an ordinary Australian caravan park. Then Jonah appears. He is small, watchful and alone, with no clear story about where he came from or who is supposed to be looking after him. At first, Tom tells himself it is not his problem. His family already feels stretched thin. His younger brother needs attention. His parents are distracted in ways he doesn't fully understand. Getting involved would only make things worse.

But Jonah keeps turning up in the spaces where adults should be. The more Tom notices, the harder it becomes to look away. As the truth begins to surface, Tom is forced to confront what help really looks like--and what it costs to step in when no one else will. Because being "free to a good home" might sound like a solution. But for some kids, it's the beginning of something much more complicated. Free to a Good Home is a contemporary Australian young adult mystery/drama about family, responsibility, silence, and the fragile hope of being safe.
