Ed Linz grew up on a farm in Kentucky. Following graduation from the Naval Academy, he commanded a nuclear submarine, taught math and physics for over 25 years, and authored six books, including works on the Great Depression and the Vietnam War. He is the grateful recipient of a 1994 heart transplant. He lives with his wife, Sharon, in Maine and Virginia.
