Gerardo Cham is a fulltime professor in the Department of Literary Studies at the University of Guadalajara. He holds a PhD in Discourse Analysis from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. From 2017 to 2023 he has been CoDirector of the Maria Sibylla Merian Center for Advanced Latin American Studies (CALAS). Since 2002 he belongs to the National System of Researchers of CONACYT in Mexico. He teaches discourse analysis, semiotics and literary theory. Arturo Camacho Becerra has been a professor of Art History in Jalisco at the University of Guadalajara since 2000. He holds a PhD in Art History from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (2006) and has participated in the Research Seminar of the National Art Museum in Mexico (2002 and 2012). He is a member of the National System of Researchers of Mexico, CONACYT.
Olaf Kaltmeier is a professor of Iberoamerican history at Universität Bielefeld. He serves as a director of Maria Sybilla Merian Center for Advanced Latin American Studies (CALAS) in the Humanities and Social Science. He is a founding director and member of the Executive Board for the Center for InterAmerican Studies (CIAS), and director of the collaborative research project "Turning Land into Capital". Elissa Rashkin is a researcher at the Center for the Study of Culture and Communication at Universidad Veracruzana, Mexico. She holds a PhD in Communication Studies from the University of Iowa. Her research has received support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the American Philosophical Society and the Programa de Mejoramiento del Profesorado (Promep) of the Mexican Ministry of Public Education.
