Connected Contexts in the First Cataract Region : Archeological Finds and Textual Evidence from the Roman to the Islamic Periods
The book is dedicated to the archaeology and textual evidence of the First Cataract including the sites of Aswan, Elephantine, Dayr Anba Hadra, Philae, Hisn al-Bab and Qasr Ibrim (Nubia). It presents latest archaeological findings as well as new text editions of Greek, Coptic and Arabic papyri/ostraka and inscriptions ranging from the Roman to the Islamic period. On this basis, it opens up discussions about transitions and intercultural exchange.
