The stories presented in this text are part of ancient writings which many early Christians regarded as scripture, but which are not part of modern bibles. Such writings are called New Testament Apocrypha and pseudepigrapha (NTAP). They provide insight into the development of Christianity and the nature of the Gospels in the New Testament. The author introduces the reader to the NATP, tells where to find good translations, and discusses some NATP fakes. The text includes a translation of the Gospel of Peter.
