Islamism is an active, intricate, and multifaceted phenomenon that operates in almost every corner of the world, albeit under different names. It encompasses a wide range of movements, groups, networks, parties and actors, that use religion as a point of reference in everyday life. The Critical Studies on Islamism Series is a new list that seeks to publish cutting-edge research on Islamism. It is the first series dedicated to the study of Islamism in all its manifestations as it appears around the world. Its objective is to unpack Islamism and understand its essence, rationale and impact from a scholarly, multidisciplinary, and interdisciplinary perspective. Books from all related disciplines are therefore welcomed including, but not limited to: political science, sociology, religious studies, history, political economy, sociolinguistics, media and cultural studies, and international relations. The emphasis is on producing books that provide original approaches theoretically and empirically. The geographical scope of the series is global and it covers the nature, dynamics, and evolution of Islamism in different contexts and regions from the Middle East and North Africa, South East Asia and Australia, to Europe and North America.

The Critical Studies on Islamism Series is intended for scholars, students, policymakers and governments. It welcomes proposals for original authored and co-authored monographs as well as edited collections.
