Dr. Manpreet J. Singh, has been associated with department of English, Mata Sundri College, University of Delhi, for nearly ten years. She has now shifted to full time writing. She did her M.Phil. on the works of Anita Desai from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Ph.D.
on novels by Shashi Deshpande, from University of Mumbai. For her post-doctoral research on Sikhs in British Columbia she was awarded a fellowship from Centre for Indo- Canadian Studies (South Asian Studies Institute), University of Fraser Valley, Canada and Indo Canadian Studies Centre, University of Mumbai, India. Her research areas have centered around post-colonialism, feminism, diaspora studies and minority identity. The insights drawn from these various areas, gives the present work on contemporary Sikh identity a multi-dimensional point of view. Dr. Singh has written two books. The Golden Arc , a collection of poems, and Male Image, Female Gaze, a commentary on the works of Shashi Deshpande. In the course of her research on Sikhs, she has also written papers on Sikh identity, and presented them in national and international conferences.
She is married to Jai Jeet Singh, an IPS officer, and has two daughters.
