The Opposite of Now brings together twelve international artists who explore this question, drawing inspiration from texts by Jewish philosophers such as Ernst Bloch, Theodor Adorno, Hannah Arendt, and Walter Benjamin. Across twelve specially developed artistic projects, viewers are encouraged to step back from the pressure of the present and consider new visions for how to change society. The participating artists engage with Jewish and universal experiences, life in conflict zones, hybrid identities, and the potential for art to enact social change.
