Casting Lines / An Anthology of Fishing Poems by Female Poets is a first of its kind poetry collection. To reflect the unique ways that women treat the subject and metaphor of fish and fishing, the anthology is organized into four sections: Patience, Fidelity, Strength, and Justice (based upon a modern take of Giuseppe Cellini's Art Nouveau paintings celebrating four virtues of women). The 90 contributors include: poets laureate, literary journal editors, awarding winning poets, emerging poets, and even commercial fisherwomen. Here are just a few of the poets who have contributed poems to the collection, with their permission: Ada Limón, Aimee Nezhukumatathil, Tess Gallagher, Destiny O. Birdsong, CMarie Furhman, Elizabeth Bradfield, Danusha Laméris, and Paisley Rekdal, among many others. Editor Merna Dyer Skinner, who grew up fishing in Michigan's Great Lakes, brings her experience as a poet, public speaker, communications consultant and marketing professional to this project. She has collected works from poets living in over 23 US states, and two international countries. With the ever-increasing presence and diversity of women in poetry, and sport and commercial fishing, the collection will appeal to a broad range of readers, well beyond the literary world.
