Neil Elliott Farber, MD, PhD, is a retired physician, scientist, and psychology professor who writes as a physician, a researcher, and a witness. Trained through a Medical Scientist Training Program, he earned both his MD and a PhD in cardiovascular pharmacology, and later completed doctoral studies in religious studies and metaphysics along with advanced fellowship training in neuroanesthesia and neuroscience. He is a retired Associate Professor of Anesthesiology, Pediatrics, and Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Medical College of Wisconsin and served as an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Arizona State University. Across his academic career he authored hundreds of peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, and book chapters and served on multiple scientific editorial boards. Dr. Farber became a national leader in physician wellness, resilience, and burnout prevention, developing evidence-based programs for hospitals, residency programs, and professional organizations. He is a certified life coach and a trained mindfulness and meditation instructor, and his writing for Psychology Today has reached millions of readers. He is the author of several books on responsibility, resilience, and personal growth.

A dual Canadian and Israeli citizen, Dr. Farber has trained in martial arts for more than five decades and is recognized as a Grandmaster. He is the founder of Kavanah Krav Maga and co-founder of the Federation of Israeli Martial Arts, and has completed counter-terror training in Israel. He has taught self-protection and combat readiness on five continents to civilians, law enforcement, and military units, including Israel's Special Forces Egoze unit and, in October 2023, Golani commandos, paratroopers, and reservists. He also volunteered as a pediatric anesthesiologist in an Israeli hospital during the 2006 Lebanon War. His humanitarian work includes anesthesia missions for children in South America, the Philippines, Africa, and China. In Israel Derangement Syndrome: No Jews, No News, Dr. Farber brings the discipline of the examining room to a subject usually left to opinion: the enduring pattern of Jew-hatred and hostility toward Israel.

Applying clinical reasoning through his IRONICAL diagnostic framework, he names and explains this phenomenon for ordinary readers, drawing on a lifetime studying the mind, defending the vulnerable, and standing with the Jewish people.
