I've been using tools such as ChatGPT and Copilot in my teaching and research for some time, and I can honestly say this book is one I wish I'd had sooner. Enhancing Teaching and Research with AI: Techniques in LLM Prompt Engineering is the practical guide lecturers and researchers have been waiting for. The authors have done an excellent job of focusing on the everyday realities of academic life. They show you how to craft prompts that deliver results, whether you're generating research questions, designing assessments and exams, summarising papers quickly, or creating teaching materials. The step-by-step advice and real-world examples make it easy to apply them straight away, and the sections on iteratively refining prompts and automating routine tasks are particularly strong. What I appreciated most is that they don't just celebrate the technology. They give proper attention to academic integrity and the ethical use of AI, which feels balanced and thoughtful in today's context. This is the sort of book that will save people a lot of time and frustration.
I'll be recommending it to my colleagues and research students.
