A. S. Poznyak is a Professor of Automatic Control at the Centro de Investigacin y de Estudios Avanzados of the Instituto Politcnico Nacional, Mexico City, Mexico. Previously a Leading Researcher at the Institute of Control Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, and presently a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, he is the author or coauthor of seven books and more than 70 journal articles. Dr. Poznyak received the B.Sc. (1964) and M.
Sc. (1970) degrees in systems of automatic control from the Moscow Physical Technical Institute, Russia, and the Ph.D. (1978) and Doct.Sc.Ing. (1989) degrees from the institute of Control Sciences, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow. K.
Najim is a Professor of Automatic Control at the Process Control Laboratory of the Ecole Nationale Suprieure d'Ingnieurs de Gnie Chimique (ENSIGC). Toulouse, France. The author or coauthor of 12 books, including Process Modeling and Control in Chemical Engineering (Marcel Dekker, Inc.), he has published several articles on process modeling, online process control, process optimization, Markov chains, stochastic games, and adaptive control and learning systems. An active member of the International Federation of Automatic Control, Prof. Najim received the Diplme d'Ingnieur degree (1972) from the Ecole Nationale Suprieure d'Electrotechnique, d'Informatique et d'Hydraulique, Toulouse, France, and the Ph.D. degree (1979) from the Universit Paul Sabatier, Toulouse.
E. Gmez-Ramirez is the Head of Engineering and Technology in the Research Center at La Salle University. Mexico City, Mexico. The author or coauthor of several journal articles on artificial neural networks, control theory, learning automata, and other research topics, Dr. Gmez-Ramrez received the M.S. (1994) and Ph.D.
(1999) degrees in electrical engineering from the Centro de Investigacin y de Estudios Avanzados of the Instituto Politcnico Nacional, Mexico City, Mxico.
