The book is based on some selected essays of Sayyid Abul A'la Mawdudi. Carefully edited and annotated by Ahmad Imam Shafaq Hashemi, the book is divided into two Parts: Part One contains 12 articles on Islam and the Society and Part Two, with around two dozen articles, relating to Islam and the State.
