Dr Victor Pylro - Is a microbial ecologist holding experience on soil microbiology. He completed his Bachelor s degree in Biological Sciences at Federal University of Ouro Preto/Brazil in 2008, and earned his Master s and Ph.D. degrees (Agricultural Microbiology) from Viosa Federal University/Brazil, with Sandwich Doctorate at Rothamsted Research/UK (Advisor: Dr. Penny R. Hirsch). He is one of the initiators of the Brazilian Microbiome Project. Dr.
Victor Pylro is working closely to several Brazilian and International researchers and companies technicians, in order to standardize methods and protocols to be adopted by the BMP. Also, he is the coordinator of the Committee of Knowledge Transfer of the National Institute of Science and Technology: Microbiome (recently proposed), concerned in the formation of human resources and the transfer of knowledge to society, by developing activities aimed at overcoming educational challenges in Brazil. Currently, he is a Research Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory / Institute of Genomics 3 and Systems Biology, where he is focusing his efforts to assemble the database and associated data analyses tools for the BMP. Dr Luiz Roesch - Is graduated in Agronomy at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2000), earned his Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Soil Sciences with emphasis on Microbiology and Biochemist of Soil at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul with sandwich period at University of Florida / Department of Microbiology and Cell Sciences. From 2007 to 2009 he worked at University of Florida as Senior Biological Scientist and currently is a Professor at Universidade Federal do Pampa - UNIPAMPA, RS. His work is devoted to study microbial community dynamics in ecosystems.
His expertises include Next Generation Sequencing, Bioinformatics, metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, and microbial ecology.
