Dermot is a seasoned pastor and church leader with over 37 years of experience in Christian ministry, including youth ministry and senior pastoral roles from North Queensland to Tasmania. He currently serves as the Senior Pastor of Grace Church Clarence Plains, where he and his wife, Debra, have led their local faith community for more than two decades. Passionate about seeing the church deeply embedded in its community, Dermot champions a model of ministry that prioritises service over programs, believing the love of Jesus is best expressed through authentic, grassroots engagement rather than traditional church metrics. His writing and teaching explore innovative approaches to church practice, leadership, community engagement, and discipleship, challenging conventional assumptions and inviting others to think more deeply about the church's role in society. Through his teaching and writing, Dermot challenges traditional assumptions about church success and leadership, encouraging believers to measure faithfulness by impact rather than size. "If your church disappeared tomorrow," he asks, "would your community even notice?" This question has shaped much of his pastoral vision and continues to guide his work. Dermot and Debra live in Tasmania and have four adult children and a cat.
